Tell Your Own Story And Reach Millions

It’s another great day for our little company today. My client Soozi Rowbotham, founder of Patients Talking, has been featured in The Sun. Click here to read.

Soozi set up the health website after IVF complications almost cost her her life. She had been trying desperately hard to publicise the site and eventually turned to me last month. Since I became involved Soozi has appeared in two national newspapers, The Sunday Express, who did a double page spread, and now The Sun with it’s massive readership.

Soozi has a dramatic story to tell which has undoubtedly helped us to win publicity for her website. But, in many ways, her story is typical of many entrepreneurs. Most of the people I have met who’ve gone into business have had their own personal journeys which have led them down the path.

Lesson: The best way for a small business to win publicity is often to tell the founder’s personal story. If you’re in business have a think about what it was that led you to shun conventional employment and decide to take the gamble of launching your own enterprise. Tell your story well and you may even be able to win coverage in a national newspaper or magazine. Think big – if your story is strong don’t just settle for the local rag.

Press Release Surgery: If you would like me to give an opinion on your press release email me at steve@pressmanpr.co.uk.
Squidoo: I now have a Squidoo page where I describe ten steps to create a snappy press release. Click here to visit and please rate it.
What I’m Reading: I am currently reading Purple Cow by Seth Godin. The book has the strap line - Transform your business by being remarkable. Seth’s a very wise man who has recognised that conventional advertising is dead. It’s all about PR now. If your company is still spending a fortune on ineffective advertising stop right now and hire yourself someone who can create a buzz about you in the media instead. It is cheaper and much more effective.
More Pressman Success: My current incredible run of national newspaper hits for my clients just keeps getting better and better. In the past three weeks I have had page leads in The Sun, Sunday Express, Daily Mail and Daily Mirror.
Gerry Campbell, the founder of Bagnificent has emailed me to say hits on her site have gone “through the roof” after her company was featured in the Mirror so that’s very gratifying and shows the incredible power of PR in action.
I am currently negotiating with a number of TV producers on behalf of a client – there is a lot of interest so watch this space.
It’s a very exciting time at the moment and I seem to be on fire with everything I touch turning to gold right now (hey, it’s no good being modest when you’re running your own business!)
