Vote Sherwood
Phone lines open on November 26 in a national contest to decide which of four shortlisted projects will win £50m of lottery funding.
The four projects are Sherwood: The Living Legend, Black Country Urban Park, The Eden Project, and Sustrans Connect2.
I have been very pleased to be involved in the PR on the Sherwood bid, in partnership with PR Principles Ltd, and want to urge everyone who knows us to get behind the bid and VOTE.
The cash will revitalise this area of Nottinghamshire and give the economy a real shot in the arm.
It’ll build a state of the art visitor centre - the kind of resource all those American tourists expect when they come to Notts on the trail of Robin Hood.
It will also help to restore the forest to it’s former glory. The forest used to contain hundreds of thousands of trees but 85 per cent have been lost over the years. They were cut down to build the war ships which saw off the Spanish Armarda (2000 oaks for every ship).
Other oaks were lost to build churches and cathedrals all over Britain - including St Paul’s in London (cheers Sir Christopher Wren).
So vote Sherwood and let’s stop this lottery money going to the south of England (again).
